Modern
Elder
Academy

The Modern Elder Academy is a deeply focused wisdom school based on redefining how we perceive “mid-life”, which the founder Chip Conley describes as being comprised of all active humans aged 35-75. Their programs focus on life transitions that aim to provide clarity, inspiration and understanding for the complex decisions we all must face in how we want to live our lives.

I had the unique opportunity to attend a destination retreat at their Baja, Mexico campus to embed with a learning cohort and conduct some important podcast interviews. I built a compelling portrait of what the program’s intentions are meant to serve through my conversation with Stacy Peralta (a lifelong skateboarding and filmmaking hero and inspiration of my own) and three separate instructors and facilitators of the program: Teddi Dean, Thérèse O’Neill and Daniel Weinzveg.

I recorded 30 minute podcast episodes with each guest to create a quartet of highly informative and actionable conversations that illuminate that value proposition at the heart of the Modern Elder Academy.

This project is a clear example of a location specific media program that can highlight the core values of a program in the words of the practitioners themselves.
